You’re standing in a busy train station, you’ve rehearsed your sentence five times in your head, but the moment you open your mouth, the courage vanishes. You look at the person across the counter, desperate for help, and ask that one universal question: “Fala inglês?” (Do you speak English?).
When the answer is a firm “No,” the world suddenly feels twice as big and ten times as lonely. “Glossolalia” is the soundtrack for that exact moment of disconnect. To a visitor, a local language can sound like a blur of beautiful but meaningless noise-literally like “speaking in tongues.”
I wrote this track to capture the raw frustration of needing to bridge a gap that your vocabulary just won’t allow. It’s for every traveler who has had to walk away from a conversation with a heavy heart, hoping the next person they meet will be the one who finally understands them.
It is about the invisible walls we hit when the words don’t match the need. You’re just trying to find your way or buy a ticket, and suddenly the most basic human connection feels like an impossible puzzle. This song reflects the exhaustion of being a stranger in a land where your voice doesn’t have a home yet.
It’s a rhythmic exploration of that confusing space where the bridge simply collapses because the two sides aren’t speaking the same tongue. It’s a reminder that communication is a privilege we often take for granted until it is gone. It’s for those who have had to use hand signals and smiles just to survive the day.
This is the anthem for the silent struggle of the misunderstood, honoring the patience required to live in a world that doesn’t speak your language.
“The bridge between communication and miscommunication is built on the ability to hear the language and converse. When the words don’t match, the bridge simply collapses” — Supa Fik
